Magic and moonlight: Woody Allen's late night love affair with Paris

Allen's romantic fantasy centres around a young American screenwriter, Gil, who is accompanying his fiancée, Inez, and her parents on a Paris vacation. Gil becomes inexorably drawn to the intoxicating glamour of the city's bygone days and a new love, Adrienne. Over the course of his Paris vacation, Gil's fantastical experiences gradually make him realise how much he longs to escape the dull constraints of his job, write novels and find true love. As a result, when he returns to "real" life and discovers that Inez has been having an affair with Paul, he decides to make a new life in the city of his dreams.
"Midnight in Paris" is shot entirely on location in the French capital and opens with a three and a half minute montage of the famous tourist attractions which would feature in any Paris vacation brochure. Scenes in the movie feature the Pantheon, Notre Dame, Montmartre, the Paris Opera and Sacre-Cœur, and there is even a visit to the royal palace at Versailles.
