Description: Paris Vacation Rentals

This elegant 60m2  apartment rental is well located near to the Opera Garnier, in the artistic enclave of 'La Nouvelle Athènes', once home to Delacroix, George Sand amongst others.  The Goncourt brothers lived in the building and the calm of the area drew Renoir to set up studio next door.  The apartment is bright with South and West-facing windows that overlook private gardens onto Chopin's former residence.  An artistic feel and sense of calm survive to this day.  All the more striking considering this is the heart of Paris.  If what you are looking for in your Paris apartment rental is soothing elegance, then you cannot go wrong with 'Garnier' .

Furnished to a high standard with antique furniture and modern soft furnishing, 'Garnier' very much feels like a home and is full of character.  The period drawing room is decorated in the Louis XVI style with its 18th Century fireplace, antique mercury looking glass, original French 'secretaire' desk and antique ornaments that include an interesting 17th Century pharmacist's mortar!  A rare Prussian chimney dominates the dining room (marble ornaments and antique porcelain) with its original Louis XVI dining table which offers a more formal alternative to eating in the kitchen.

La Nouvelle Athènes' is a mysterious, often overlooked quarter once beloved of artists of the Romantic era.  Long-forgotten actresses and demi-mondaines had mansions built here and some of the prettiest of these miniature palaces can be found in tiny streets adjacent to 'Garnier'.  The apartment overlooks the remarkable Square d'Orléans, an ensemble of flats and artist's studios which attracted the glitterati of the day. No surprise then that the area is so popular today.  Local restaurants are excellent and cater for all budgets and tastes.  , For fresh produce, the well-known rue des Martyrs is one of the best markets in town.

Hi James, Thanks so much for making our Paris holiday in your apartment in the 6th such a pleasant one. We have never rented an apartment for holiday abroad before but for this trip to Paris it was just the ticket. Merci!

Dear James, Thank you for offering us a warm, quiet and relaxing apartment for our Paris holiday. We saw all the sites, ate and drank far too much. I never thought of holiday apartments in Paris as an alternative to a hotel but our friends (the Nicos from NY) were right in passing us your details. Cheers, David and Elaine
