Paris - made to measure for "Made in Chelsea"
Glamour was the order of the day as the sophisticated female stars of E4's hit reality TV show "Made in Chelsea" took the ultimate Paris vacation.
Small-screen siren, Caggie, and love rival, Louise, set aside their shared romantic history with City broker, Spencer, to join Rosie on a girls' weekend away visiting Caggie's best friend, Millie. The gorgeous girls had only just been reunited last month by Caggie's return from New York when Millie dramatically fled Chelsea for the French capital in the hopes that a Paris vacation would help her get over her breakup with London playboy, Hugo Taylor, who allegedly cheated on the stunning blonde. Millie has been said to be staying in a luxurious Paris holiday apartment owned by a close relative and has refused to take calls or texts from her errant beau.
In last week's episode of the show, the trio of twenty-something Chelsea socialites were seen in chic Parisian styles as they enjoyed an emotional reunion with Millie by the Seine en route to their Paris accommodation. Their sightseeing continued to Sacre Coeur where Caggie was serenaded by a handsome busker who insisted on giving her his number. Not to be outdone, Millie also toyed with the promise of a Paris vacation romance, as she caught the eye of dusky Frenchman, Luca, in iconic nightspot, Le Carmen. What followed was a dinner invitation, champagne drunk out of a glass slipper and some serious flirting. Is Millie finally over Hugo?
Fans of the show have themselves clearly been wooed by the temptation of the City of Light. Keen to emulate the glamorous lifestyles of the "Made in Chelsea" beauties, hundreds of viewers have been making enquiries about Eurostar train tickets and Paris accommodation. One travel agent commented, "A Paris vacation has always been a timeless and traditional romantic destination but now suddenly there's a focus on the nightlife and cosmopolitan atmosphere which the city has to offer. It's a younger vibe - Paris is hot right now." Hotels in the city and companies offering Paris holiday apartments for rental have also reported a surge of interest in Paris accommodation from UK clients, especially female groups. "We are fully booked for the next three months" said one Paris holiday apartment owner, "We have had lots of people asking about shopping, bars and clubs. They're calling it the Chelsea effect - but I like to think of it as the Luca effect."
