Holiday Flats Paris from Pad-A-Terre
Aside from plonking yourselves on one of the ubiquitous London-style red
double deckers (which at Pad à Terre we certainly do not recommend), one of the
best ways to familiarise yourselves with the city during your stay at one of our
holiday flats in Paris is to follow a walking-tour itinerary. The following
Paris tour has a bit of 'romantic' twist to it. We have added transport links
(if you insist) but suggest that taking your time to walk the distance is far
more rewarding.
Set off early in the morning from your Paris holiday flat. Start at Métro
Trocadéro on the place for a view of the Eiffel Tower. If you are staying at
one of our Paris apartments in the 6th, you are a little closer. Next stop, the
Musée Rodin. To get there, you can either skip
down the steps, across the bridge (back towards you Paris apartments 6th), under
the tower and through the Champ de Mars or take aerial metro line Paris 6 which
passes over the Pont Bir-Hakeim (remember Last Tango in Paris?), changing at La
Motte-Piquet Grenelle and getting out at La Tour-Maubourg. Once at the museum,
walk through the gardens to find the Jardin de Varenne café, a perfect spot for
breakfast, complete with birdsong (not guaranteed though). That is of course if
you did not already tuck into a croissant in your Paris holiday
flat.
Hop on the no. 82 bus, on boulevard des Invalides opposite rue de Babylone
which takes you all the way to the Jardin de
Luxembourg. Get off at the Guynemer Vavin stop and wander
through the Italianate park in search of the Medici Fountain, a favourite
lovers' trysting spot. Skirt around the Palais du Luxembourg and take one of
the roads north into St-Germain-des-Prés. From here you can either walk back to
your holiday flats Paris or if you are at one of our Paris apartments 6th -
walk!
